Agreement Gate Key: student
1. What Is This Agreement?
Section titled “1. What Is This Agreement?”FundedYouth Academy (“FundedYouth”) is a nonprofit organization that teaches kids and teens about Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) through hands-on projects in our makerspace.
This is the Student Agreement. It explains what the Student section of the portal is for, how it works, and the rules you need to follow. By signing this, you are saying you have read it, understand it, and agree to follow it.
By signing this agreement, the Student section of the portal is unlocked automatically. Once you sign, the Student section — which includes My Courses, My Pathways, and My Badges — will appear in your portal right away.
This agreement works alongside the General Use Agreement, which you must have already signed. The rules in the General Use Agreement still apply to you as a student.
2. What the Student Section Is For
Section titled “2. What the Student Section Is For”The Student section of the portal is your learning dashboard. It is where you:
- Enroll in courses offered by FundedYouth
- Track your progress through learning pathways
- View badges you have earned or are working toward
The Student section is not where you book in-person sessions or manage payments. Those happen in other parts of the portal:
| What you want to do | Where to go |
|---|---|
| Sign up for a specific in-person session or event | Sessions Menu |
| Purchase a membership, credit pack, or add-on | Subscriptions Menu |
| View invoices and payment history | Billing Menu |
| Track your courses, pathways, and badges | Student Menu ← you are here |
3. How the Student Section Works
Section titled “3. How the Student Section Works”My Courses
Section titled “My Courses”This is where you can browse available courses and enroll in them. Each course shows:
- The name and description of what you will learn
- The type — course, class, or workshop
- The category it belongs to (like coding, electronics, design, etc.)
- Any prerequisites — courses you need to finish first before you can sign up
- Your enrollment status — not started, in progress, or completed
Enrolling in a course is free and does not book you into a session. It simply adds the course to your list so you can track it. To actually attend a session for that course, go to the Sessions Menu and register for an in-person event.
How completing a course works:
- You enroll in a course here (Student Menu)
- You register for and attend an in-person session (Sessions Menu)
- Your instructor confirms your attendance
- A FundedYouth administrator marks you as complete
- Any badge linked to that course is awarded to your account
My Pathways
Section titled “My Pathways”A Pathway is a group of related courses that go together — like a learning trail. For example, a “Beginner Electronics” pathway might have three courses that build on each other.
In My Pathways, you can:
- See pathways where you have already enrolled in at least one course
- Track your overall progress through each pathway
- See which courses are completed, in progress, or not yet started
- View a visual timeline of your learning journey
Pathways help you understand where you are and what comes next. This section is for viewing only — no actions are taken here.
My Badges
Section titled “My Badges”Badges are awards you earn by completing courses. Think of them like digital trophies.
In My Badges, you can:
- See all the badges you have already earned, with the date you got them
- See locked badges you have not earned yet — and which course you need to finish to unlock them
- See when a badge is “in progress” — meaning you are enrolled in the course needed to earn it
Badges are awarded automatically by the system when a course is marked complete. You cannot buy, skip, or manually unlock a badge.
4. Prerequisites
Section titled “4. Prerequisites”Some courses require you to complete other courses first. These are called prerequisites.
- If a course has a prerequisite, you cannot enroll in it until the required course is marked complete on your account.
- The portal will show you which prerequisite is needed and whether you have met it.
- Completing a prerequisite in the real world does not count — it must be recorded in the portal by a FundedYouth administrator.
5. How to Behave as a Student
Section titled “5. How to Behave as a Student”When you are learning at FundedYouth — whether in person or using the portal — you are expected to act respectfully and take your learning seriously.
Respect Your Instructors and Other Students
Section titled “Respect Your Instructors and Other Students”- Listen to your instructor. They are here to help you learn. Follow their directions during class.
- Be patient and kind. Everyone learns at a different pace. Do not make fun of others for not knowing something.
- Ask questions. There are no dumb questions. If you are confused, speak up — that is what instructors are there for.
- Do not distract others during a session. If you finish early, wait quietly or offer to help someone nearby.
Respect the Space and Equipment
Section titled “Respect the Space and Equipment”- Only use equipment you have been trained on. If you have not learned how to use a tool, do not touch it without an instructor’s guidance.
- Follow all safety rules posted in the space and given by your instructor.
- Clean up after yourself. Put tools, materials, and equipment back where they belong.
- Tell someone right away if something is broken, damaged, or unsafe.
Respect the Learning Content
Section titled “Respect the Learning Content”- Course materials, videos, badges, and lesson plans belong to FundedYouth. You may not copy, share, sell, or repost any of it without written permission.
- Do not try to manipulate your enrollment or completion status. Completions are verified by instructors and administrators. Attempting to fake or bypass this will result in suspension.
6. Age Rules
Section titled “6. Age Rules”If You Are 18 or Older
Section titled “If You Are 18 or Older”- You can sign this agreement on your own.
If You Are 13 to 17 Years Old
Section titled “If You Are 13 to 17 Years Old”- You need your parent or guardian’s permission to access the Student section.
- Your parent or guardian must provide their full name and email address, and agree that they have read this and allow you to participate.
- FundedYouth may contact your parent or guardian about your progress, attendance, or any concerns.
If You Are Under 13
Section titled “If You Are Under 13”- The same rules as ages 13–17 apply — parental consent is required.
- You must have a parent or guardian with you at all times while at any FundedYouth location.
- Your parent or guardian is fully responsible for your safety and behavior during in-person sessions.
7. Your Student Access Can Be Removed
Section titled “7. Your Student Access Can Be Removed”FundedYouth can remove or suspend your student access at any time, for any reason. Some reasons this might happen include:
- Breaking any of the rules in this agreement or the General Use Agreement.
- Disrespecting instructors, staff, or other students.
- Trying to manipulate course completions or badges.
- Doing anything that puts someone’s safety at risk.
If your student access is suspended, the Student section will disappear from your portal until a FundedYouth administrator restores it.
8. Changes to This Agreement
Section titled “8. Changes to This Agreement”FundedYouth can update or change this agreement at any time. If something important changes, you will be notified through the portal. If you keep using the Student section after being notified, that means you accept the changes. If you do not agree, let a FundedYouth administrator know and your student access will be deactivated.
9. I Agree
Section titled “9. I Agree”By signing this agreement through the FundedYouth Portal, I am saying:
- I have read and understand this entire Student Agreement.
- I understand that signing this agreement immediately unlocks the Student section of the portal.
- I understand the Student section is for enrolling in courses, tracking pathways, and viewing badges — not for booking sessions or managing payments.
- I understand that enrolling in a course here does not book me into a session — I must also register for an in-person session through the Sessions Menu.
- I understand that prerequisites must be met and recorded in the portal before I can enroll in certain courses.
- I understand that badges are only awarded when a course is marked complete by an administrator — they cannot be skipped or purchased.
- I will respect my instructors, other students, and the makerspace at all times.
- I will follow all safety rules and staff instructions during in-person sessions.
- I will not copy, share, or repost any FundedYouth course content without permission.
- I understand my student access can be removed at any time if I break these rules.
- I understand FundedYouth can change this agreement at any time and that continuing to use the Student section means I accept the changes.
- I understand FundedYouth Academy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN: 93-4090260).
If you are under 18:
- My parent or guardian has read this agreement and gives permission for me to participate as a student.
- I understand that if I am under 13, I must have a parent or guardian with me at all times during in-person sessions.
This agreement is signed electronically through the FundedYouth Portal. Your name, email, date, and (if applicable) parent/guardian information are stored securely.
